How to Choose a 200 Meter Water Well Drilling Machine
A 200 meter depth target does not identify one correct machine. The buyer must also define borehole diameter, casing and pump size, geology, drilling method, access roads and whether 200m is a normal working depth or an occasional maximum.

Define the 200m Project Before Choosing the Machine
1. Required Working Depth
Tell the supplier whether most wells are near 100-150m or whether 200m is a regular requirement. Regular work near maximum depth needs more operating margin.
2. Finished Borehole Diameter
Confirm the pump outside diameter, casing inside and outside diameter, and the larger drilled hole required for installation and sealing.
3. Local Geology
Soil, clay and sand favor mud rotary drilling. Continuous hard rock may require DTH tools, compressor matching and a heavier system.
4. Access and Transport
Wheel rigs reduce shipping and towing complexity on usable roads. Crawlers help on soft ground but increase weight and freight volume.
5. Complete Package
Count rods by total meters, then confirm bits, mud pump or compressor, hoses, tools, spare parts, packing and local unloading.
Use a Safety Margin
Do not design every job around a machine's maximum number. Diameter, tool weight and difficult formation can reduce practical depth.
LY-200 vs LYQY-260 vs Heavy-Duty Rock Drilling
| Selection | Best Starting Use | Important Limit |
|---|---|---|
| LY-200 wheel rig | Many 200m mud-rotary water wells, farms, villages and small contractors | Confirm the real 200m diameter, geology and rod package; do not treat 350mm and 200m as an automatic combined guarantee |
| LYQY-260 wheel rig | Buyers needing more torque, 64mm rods and depth margin above 200m | Higher capacity still requires correct bits, circulation and operator practice |
| LYC crawler configuration | Soft ground, muddy sites and restricted access where self-propelled tracks matter | More shipping volume and cost than a compact wheel rig |
| LY-280 or matched DTH system | Hard rock, larger contractor scope and projects needing a compressor package | Compressor pressure, air volume, hammer and bit must be matched before quotation |
Diameter Can Change the Answer
A supplier should not recommend a 200m machine without asking diameter. A 150mm borehole and a 300mm borehole create different torque, cutting, flushing and lifting demands. The practical rule remains: borehole diameter is larger than casing outside diameter, and casing inside diameter is larger than pump outside diameter.
What a 200 Meter Quotation Should Include
| Quotation Line | What to Verify |
|---|---|
| Main rig | Exact model, engine, chassis, rated depth and drilling method |
| Drill rods | Total meters, individual length, diameter, thread and reserve quantity |
| Bits and tools | Type and diameter matched to soil, gravel or rock |
| Circulation equipment | Mud pump and hoses, or compressor, DTH hammer, air hose and lubricator |
| Wear and spare parts | Seals, filters, hoses, common tools and recommended first-service parts |
| Packing and freight | Package count, dimensions, gross weight, port, Incoterm and unloading plan |
Responsible Hard-Rock Answer
A compact machine may work in normal soil, clay, sand and some medium-hard layers, but unknown continuous hard granite should not receive a guaranteed maximum-depth promise. Select a larger rig and stronger drilling system when rock is the main formation.
LIYO Models to Compare
Final configuration depends on depth, diameter, geology, drilling method and site access.

Questions From Drilling Equipment Buyers
Is a 200m rated rig guaranteed to drill every well to 200m?
No. Actual capacity depends on borehole diameter, geology, bit, circulation, drill-string weight and operator experience.
Should I choose LY-200 or LYQY-260?
LY-200 is a practical starting point for many 200m mud-rotary wells. Choose LYQY-260 when you need stronger 64mm rods, dual-motor torque and more depth margin.
Can a 200m machine drill an 8-inch hole?
The final answer requires geology, finished diameter and depth together. A larger hole increases drilling load and may reduce practical depth.
What should I send for an accurate quotation?
Send working depth, borehole diameter, casing and pump sizes, geology, drilling method, road condition and destination city or port.
Need a Project-Based Rig Recommendation?
Send the target depth, borehole diameter, casing or pump size, ground condition, drilling method and project location. LIYO will recommend a practical machine and tooling package.
